Shooting with Dan is always great fun, but he is busy, and time is always tight. I like to block and pre-light our setups well in advance where possible. The social spots in a loft or infinity cove are captured on zooms, and the directors like the cameras to continually turn over to capture improvised moments.

For the TVCs, I move over to primes. With St Hugo, we created three distinct looks for the commercial: a vintage British country manor—a modern, bright, and clean Australian house. And a wine cellar turned trophy room. Shooting on location with a tight turnaround time meant we dressed and lit each set beforehand, allowing Dan to walk in, play with the lines, and deliver what the directors needed. Each location featured a dream sequence with a look achieved through filters in front of the lens.
