Majestic approached me to work with Ed just as he was finishing Millennial Falcon. The idea was to spend a couple of days with him and his family, document parts of his life, cut that with Ed's webcam-style narration, and archive footage/photos. We need to gather enough footage to support the music videos and the documentary.
We shot a mixture of digital footage and Super 8mm. My initial plan was to lean more on the film stock, but due to some of the low-light situations and the volume of footage required, it turned out to be a nice balance of both formats.
I really enjoyed shooting what is essentially documentary coverage of a day in the life of a musician but with a music video freedom that hopefully lead to a lo-fi, wabi-sabi peak into Ed and his family.
