Notes

We created the opening sequence to visually represent Ollie's state of mind - the handheld camera work, muted colour palette and set design needed to paint a picture of a lost person. The time of day changes were created through lighting and sound cues, but the ever-present flash of the TV connects each scene. He finds the MHM Facebook group just as a ray of sunlight spills into the darkened room through the curtains. The muted tone and lighting style extend to the garage, where I kept Ollie in a silhouette, only bringing him out of the darkness when he is on the road.

The entire commercial was shot on location in the Derbyshire peaks over a weekend. We split the interior scenes with the exterior riding sequences, lighting the interiors with HMIs, Asteras, and SkyPanels.

James Copson and I directed the drone sequences with the support of the awesome James and Will at Flye. We hoped to create a peaceful, calm serenity to the visuals. We achieved this by deploying a black arm to support a gimbal, giving us a smoother look/feel with the ability to pan and tilt the head remotely.

The K35 lenses gave us a slightly nostalgic feel, full of beautiful flares and warm skin tones without going overboard.
